Mind And Cosmos Book

Summer 2015 – Books & Culture: Mind and Cosmos

Bruce Phillips

Bruce Phillips critiques
“Mind and Cosmos” by Thomas Nagel

The modern materialistic theory of life fails completely to account for such fundamental realities as consciousness, intentionality, meaning and value. Thomas Nagel, an atheist professor of philosophy at NYU, argues in “Mind and Cosmos” that this failure to explain something so integral to nature as “mind” is a major problem that threatens to unravel the entire naturalistic worldview.

Nagel’s critique of naturalism seriously undermines Darwinian evolutionary theory, just as it affirms many of the presuppositions of Intelligent Design and a Christian understanding of nature.

If your schedule permits, join us as Bruce Phillips leads us through the discussion of this fascinating book. George Weaver will also open the evening with a short interchange on the current state of the culture.
